Our world is Plasma
Plasma is our world. Nearly all of our matter is made up of it, whether it’s lightning, the sun or the Northern Lights. We, the specialists at neoplas GmbH in Greifswald, love plasma and make it useful. Our passion has been plasma technology ever since the company was founded in 2005. We, therefore, dedicate our knowledge, know-how and enthusiasm to the development, production and sales of revolutionary plasma devices on a daily basis. As a spin-off of the Leibniz Institute for Plasma Research and Technology (INP Greifswald), we develop cold-plasma devices that have come from research for practical use – whether it’s for the medical sector, for industry or the research sector.
The results have been well worth it. Our cold plasma kINPen®VET device is the first device of its kind on the market that can help vets heal the wounds of their animal patients. Plasma’s energy cocktail enables germ-free wounds and heals without side effects. This makes the Jet the physics-based alternative to antibiotics in veterinary medicine. Our kINPen®IND provides a solution for treating surfaces. Using the smallest possible plasma beam and a temperature of under 40 degrees Celsius, surfaces can be cleaned, activated and decontaminated sustainably, without the use of any chemicals. We work hand-in-hand with our partners to develop unique plasma applications for our customers.
Plasma – Small Flame with a Big Effect
Do you know what plasma is? Why it’s good and which areas it is already being used in? We might not be able to use plasma for turning straw into gold, like in fairy tales, but the mix of energies is still remarkable. Whether it’s fluorescent lamps, plasma screens or the coating of glass – plasma is considered the fourth fundamental state of matter after solid, liquid and gaseous and is omnipresent in our day-to-day lives. It is produced by applying large amounts of energy to a gas. This makes the gas atoms or molecules lose their outer electrons. Most plasma types are very hot. Cold plasma, on the other hand, has a lower temperature which enables it to be applied to living organisms. Plasma is a partially ionized gas which has a number of special components. In addition to the ions and electrons described above, these also include various reactive oxygen (ROS) and nitrogen species (RNS), but also UV radiation, visible light and other electromagnetic fields. In a plasma application, these components have a synergy effect on the material or tissue being treated.
