IRIS – Playground for new ideas
IRIS is a strong innovative SME, based in the industrial area of Turin, specialized in the development of innovative technologies for the circular economy in small-scale industrial and civil institutions. The innovative SME was founded in 2012 and brings solutions to the market that are based on the application of laser and plasma technology. Also, these technologies stood out for efficiency and competitiveness even on small-scale applications.
IRIS – Process technology
IRIS develops industrial applications of laser and plasma technology, with a particular focus on welding and additive manufacturing processes.
Circular Economy
IRIS develops functional modules for the recovery of resources, water, energy, and raw materials from matrices otherwise destined to be wasted. Also, IRIS is specialized in small-scale treatment solutions. These solutions are ideal for facilitating the launch of circular economy concepts in isolated places (rural areas, hamlets, refuges, boats, off-grid contexts) or in small communities that need to be self-sufficient (energetic communities, small municipalities, small urban districts).
Experts in Laser and Plasma Technology
IRIS is part of a group of high-tech manufacturing SMEs headed by Laserlam. The center specialized in laser, plasma, and metal sheet processing technologies was created by Laserlam.
Thanks to the sharing of know-how and skills within the group, IRIS is able to build prototype technological demonstrators and test new processes/equipment in an industrial environment. Also, the results of the process tests can be quickly launched towards production, relying on the robust organizational structure and production structure of Laserlam, or towards industrialization through the construction ex Novo of the most suitable plant solution, relying on the skills of the shared company Progetto Laser.
In the environmental field, IRIS supports and takes advantage of the collaboration of Walden, a technological start-up, born in 2019. They are active in the field of sustainable management and the use of natural resources. Walden supplies forest products and offers renewable energy services and of Ambornetti. They started the recovery of an abandoned village through the creation of an eco-sustainable resort. This resort will also use the innovative technologies patented by IRIS.
Plasma treatment of fluids
IRIS has conceived, designed and patented the Greenplasma Cold treatment. It uses high voltage discharge but very short electrical pulses to treat any fluid. It eliminates bacteria, prevents the formation of algae, eliminates non-biodegradable pollutants when applied to water. Applied to edible liquids (e.g. milk), thanks to the low temperature, it allows pasteurization ensuring the preservation of the organoleptic properties. Also, it facilitates many decontamination reactions (e.g. desulphurization) or carbon dioxide conversion (e.g. transformation of CO2 into Syngas) when
